Belloc’s Society

hilaire-bellloc

Belloc’s Society is a new group, open to all with the aim of celebrating a selection of the work of Hillaire Belloc, Sussex’s most devoted writer about the county, his life and links with Sussex. It acknowledges that some of his views and work are not acceptable today but believes that the remainder of his writing is worthy of greater appreciation, acknowledgement and fame. It aims to also celebrate the features of Sussex Belloc loved: its scenery, architecture, food, drink and people and aims to establish a permanent Belloc Centre as a memorial and visitor centre.

The Society offers ‘Belloc County’ tours of Sussex, run by All-Inclusive History and holds meetings in the Frankland Arms, Washington (described by Belloc as the ‘Washington Inn’). For further information, please call 07504 863867 or email…
